I Signed Up for a Hot Yoga Class By Accident

And it was hell. Moments after walking in, I had a feeling this would be one of “if it’s not a good time, it’s a good story” moments. I’d signed up for this Power Flow session through my Class Pass app because I had a few extra credits but not enough to take another beloved Barre class. Hey, I wanted to put my money and time to good use. Alas, the description said be prepared to sweat, but a more accurate blurb would’ve said “be prepared for your body to produce a light rain of sweat.” As I stepped...

    My Lifetime Bucket List

There’s that Susan Sontag saying about how she hasn’t been everywhere, but it’s on her list. And I can’t resonate more. You’d think that the more you travel, the more satisfied you’d be. Wrong — you end up craving even more adventures. I’ve crossed 11 countries off my list, but I have another 180-something more countries to go. Today I’m sharing my lifetime travel bucket list. Recently, I started typing out my running bucket list in the notes section of my phone because writing out your goals makes them more concrete. Today I’m sharing my running bucket list with...

    Round Trip Roundup: JULY

Learning to be present is an art. If you’re anything like me, you often fall into the black hole called “the grass is greener on the other side.” The month of July intermingled both rich adventure and deep homesickness. As I scrolled through this month’s photos, I was taken aback at how many new things I did from binge watching an entire TV show in two weeks (more on that later) to all the new restaurants I tried. It’s easy to focus on my many longings while being away this summer: I miss my friends, I miss my family,...

The Ultimate Guide to Florence, Italy

From a taking a class on Tuscan wines to planning happy hours for her internship, Annika Meyer jam packed her six weeks of study abroad in Florence, Italy. It’s safe to say that I was drooling over this sorority sister’s Instagram. And I asked her to share her Florence travel guide. I chatted with her about the best Florence finds, day trips and key Italian phrases. Q: If I’m headed to Italy, what things should I be sure to add to my Florence travel guide? Piazza del Michelangelo This is one of the most beautiful overlook views of Florence...

8 Best Travel Toiletries at Target

I may or may not have a small addiction. To key lime La Croix, yes, but also Target. Sometimes when I need some me time, I like walking the aisles of Target, especially the Dollar Spot. So when it comes to Target and my other favorite thing called travel, it’s a double whammy. Before a big trip, I like to make one (or two!) Target runs to prepare. And they have the cutest little travel-sized things, too. So when it comes to planning your next trip, here are some of my favorite Target travel toiletries, and lucky for you,...

The Ultimate Travel Guide to Oahu, Hawaii

Getting paid to live in Hawaii sounds like a distant dream, but for Caitlyn Swope, it’s the real deal. After hearing about how one of her sorority sisters worked as a counselor at the YMCA Camp Erdman, Caitlyn was hooked. An application, video interview and three recommendations later, she was on a plane to Oahu to be a photographer at this camp in Wailua for the summer. (The show Lost was filmed on these very campgrounds.) The paycheck for taking and editing photos of campers isn’t hefty, but room and board is free — in an air-conditioned hut on...

6 Things That Make Travel Easier

I can be pretty lazy. I can’t tell you the last time I blow dried my hair — and I shower every day. Sometimes I even drive with the windows down to finish my perfected look of, well, just washed and a couple spritzs of It’s a 10. I like putting on a full face of makeup but mostly just for nights out or special occasions. On a normal day, you’ll find me snoozing and then rushing to slap on my eye shadow-primer combo. Lazy is one word, but I like to use the word efficient or practical. I...

    10 Things I Love

I’ve been doing this blog thing for almost five years, and although some of you know me, I thought I’d take a minute to reintroduce myself by giving you a list of 10 things I love.  At this point, you *hopefully* know I love travel, but here’s a little bit more about me and my interests: 1 . Carbonated beverages A little random but so very true.  I swear by McDonald’s Coke and will go out of my way to get a Coke from said establishment.  I was grabbing Chick-fil-A for dinner with a friend, but I legitimately drove...

    Round Trip Roundup: JUNE

I like to think I learn from my mistakes. We all do, right? After spending a summer in France, I realized I could’ve been more aggressive on the making friends front. That might be weird to ask for their number. It would be awkward if we hung out since we don’t each other that well. This summer in Texas, I said not anymore. That means reaching out about getting coffee or dinner, not waiting for someone to ask. Being the new girl is exhausting, but after six weeks here, I feel like I’m in a good groove. I have...
