    DIY Travel Bulletin Board

    December 14, 2016

You’ve seen the world, and now you’re home.  Sigh.  You spend your days craving an Orangina and a walk along the Arno River.  You wish more than anything that you could be back, but unfortunately, you’re back to reality.  Whether you’re in dire need of reliving your adventures or just want some inspo, a travel bulletin board can do just that for you.  Or if you’re still searching for the perfect gift for the traveler in your life.

    Approximate Time Needed:

    30 minutes to 1 hour

    Items You’ll Need:

    • Bulletin board (I really hope this was obvious)
    • Postcards
    • Photos
    • Old ticket stubs/plane ticket
    • Map
    • Magazine
    • Old book pages (for possible background)
    • Travel stationery
    • Memorabilia from trips (I used a shopping brochure I picked up from a shop in the Louvre)
    • Pins (I used a Je Suis Aimée button)
    • Tissue paper (for background)
    • Old calendar/planner (I found some cute Lilly Pulitzer planner pages with fun sayings on them!)
    • Stickersdiy-travel-bulletin-board-materials

    Tools You’ll Need:

    • Pushpins
    • Clothespins
    • Twine
    • Clear tape
    • Scissors
    • Paper trimmerdiy-travel-bulletin-board-postcards

    How To:

    1. First, choose your background(s).  I opted for a pink and white polka dot tissue paper background for half the board.  Other options: old book pages, maps or magazine pages.
    2. Place two clothespins on each side of the board, and tie twine around the pin.  Hang up postcards/photos with clothespins if you don’t want to put any holes in your precious postcards/photos.
    3. Use tape to place other photos, magazine pages and ticket stubs.
    4. And voilà!  Be creative and full of wanderlust.Version 2

I love doing these! I did one for my backpacking trip through Europe and also for my trip to Iceland. You’re right, they are good ways to relive the adventure and be creative, I never thought to share them though, so I’m happy to see you did!
