    Round Trip Roundup: JANUARY

6 countries, 7 cities, 100 plus miles walked. You could say January was stacked. I spent the majority of the month abroad and living out of a suitcase. Those city guides should be hitting your news feeds and inboxes each Wednesday for the next month at least. Although you’ll be reading more in depth about all these adventures in Europe, here’s a quick roundup for the month: 1 . I returned to the homeland! Okay, not technically, but I consider France a second home. And there just aren’t words to describe the feeling of return. As a kid, you...

    How to Make Money Blogging

It’s all about the bottom line, and I don’t think that always has to be a bad thing.  You work hard to share your expertise, and hey, running a blog is expensive from paying for your domain to buying necessary materials for your posts.  I’ve been blogging for more than four years and have learned a thing or two about making some moolah from blogging.  And oftentimes, it’s at no extra cost to your readers. Here’s how to make money blogging: This post includes an affiliate link, which means I may earn a kickback through links clinked. These help...

    Round Trip Roundup: DECEMBER

I think I’m done with holiday parties and Christmas songs but never the treats. I don’t know about you, but come the end of December, I’m ready for the new year. I promise I’m not a scrooge! December was chock-full of family and friend gatherings along with gifts I’m loving. Here’s a look: 1 . New travelin’ gear This Christmas was a cheery one with warm family time and way too much caramel corn. It also meant some fun, new travel gear. I got Sperry’s version of duck boots. They’re durable enough for cobblestone walking and cute enough for...

    8 Things I Learned in 2018

Life doesn’t go as you planned; I can tell you that much.  This year saw a wide range of emotions but, most importantly, growth.  But here’s the deal: growth is unbelievably uncomfortable.  If I’m being honest, this wasn’t my favorite year.  There was much change, difficult classes and just monotony.  Truth be told, I’m really happy to start a new chapter, but here’s 8 things I learned from 2018: This post contains an affiliate link, which means I may earn a small commission through an item purchased through included links.  It’s at no extra cost to you, and it...

    Your Holiday Party Survival Checklist

I don’t make it to the zoo much these days, but shopping any day in the month of December should suffice. But seriously. Parking takes twice the amount of time, and it’s almost necessary to hockey player-style check people to reach the aisle you need. I guess it’s the best time of the year if best means craziest. In the flurry that is December, it’s easy to get bogged down with all the to-dos for these supposedly fun events. Another mug exchange? Another Christmas party? The twinge of guilt for not feeling festive is overrun by the dread of...

Flight, not Fight: An Essay on Fear

Over a plate of nachos that were made with random items scrounged up but that were ultimately burned, I figured something out about fear and travel. Recently I cooked dinner with my freshman-year roommate, and we reminisced over our days of sharing a room the size of a gym locker and binge watching the entire show of Friends. Abby and I watched the silly videos we’d made, which at one point we thought were the most hilarious thing ever, and I relished in the sweet freshman innocence marked by our carefree laughter and our low threshold for entertainment. Just...

    The Best Of: Round Trip

Four flippin’ years.  If you would’ve told the bright-eyed girl with a dream to start a blog on that snow day (probably still in her pjs) that she’d still be chugging along four years later, I’m not even sure I’d believe you.  This blog has been some of the best hands-on experience for personal and professional growth and just a darn fun hobby.  Writing about experiences makes you an active thinker, not a passive bystander.  Round Trip has given me the outlet and the audience to do just that. That being said, there’s been dozens of posts published (almost...

    Round Trip Roundup: NOVEMBER

In the moment, it can feel intense.  In the moment, it can feel like the end of the world.  In the moment, it can feel like the best thing you could do for yourself. In the moment. Whether it’s getting unnecessarily frustrated at a red light or slap-happy laughter at midnight on a Tuesday, those moments are fleeting.  This month has been a montage of intense sweetness and intense stress.  I stuffed my face with chips and dip, Bunny Tracks ice cream and chocolate chip cookies at a Friendsgiving.  I’m positive I permanently raised my blood pressure from all...

    The Traveler’s Holiday Gift Guide

It truly is the most wonderful time of year, and I have already begun my shopping.  But that’s not to say finding the perfect gift for everyone is my list is an easy task.  Gift cards are basic.  Socks are too practical.  Clothing can be tricky when it comes to sizing and taste. Fret no longer for the travelers on your list.  I’ve rounded up some of the best gifts for travelers that they want or need for every budget and preference.  Shop away! This post includes affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission through some links...

Hey there, I'm Kristin, a Missouri girl living and working in southern France. I love planning weekend trips, sharing my best expat tips and sipping iced coffee.
