    Round Trip Roundup: JUNE

    June 30, 2018

I’m not sure why summer is famed for its supposed lazy vacation days because there hasn’t been a moment off this past month!  Although a change of pace from the semester, my summer has been bustling with activity from a spelunking daddy-daughter double date to a new workout class.  Here’s my top 5 from the month:

    1. Day trip to the Lake of the Ozarks

Because we all need a day to bum in the sun.  Some co-workers and I spent the day on a pontoon tubing, boarding, floating and snacking at the lake.  And I have a sunburn to prove it–whoops!

    2. Birthday celebratin’

There aren’t many things certain in this life, but one thing is: we’re always getting older.  I celebrated another year of life with some pals and this ginormous confetti-filled balloon from Target.  Typically I have pretty elaborate, detailed birthday parties like a Parisian soirée or a murder mystery party, but I laid low this year.  We played a card game, ate food and just chatted.  It was, in a way, freeing for this type A gal to just do something low-key.  My friend since childhood Ally came up for the day to celebrate with me, which was a sweet gift in and of itself!Processed with VSCO with c1 presetProcessed with VSCO with c1 preset

    3. Workout class sweatin’

I may not be the most athletic.  (In the fifth grade, we had a football punting contest in gym class, and I somehow managed to kick the ball behind me.)  But I sure do like being active and fit.  I joined a pure barre studio, and wow, is it kicking my bootie or what?!

    4. Antiquing

I love old things, and I love travel.  It wasn’t love at first sight with antiques.  I mean, come on, things are dusty and don’t work.  But I’ve really come to love antiquing (especially now that I have to furnish my place on a budget).  I could spend hours looking through old newspaper and magazine pages and travel books.  This old Reader’s Digest book from 1973 caught my eye for its beautiful, aged photography and scope of information.

    5. Making a house a home takes a hot sec

Last month I moved into my new house, and I’m still moving things around, rearranging decor and hammering nails into the wall.  But it’s really beginning to feel like home!  In some ways, I like that it’s an unfinished canvas because I can continue to grow into it and make it my own.  A full tour can be found on my Instagram profile’s highlights.

While there was barely a breath to spare, June saw lots of new and exciting things.  While I can’t wrap my mind around the fact that summer is virtually half over, I’m looking forward to July, especially my trip to Seattle and Vancouver.
