Photo Diary: Chihuly Museum in Seattle

“We’ll stop by the Space Needle and this glass museum that’s highly rated.”  My mom had set the itinerary for our trip to Seattle, and while I knew we had to stop by the famed Space Needle, the OG Starbucks and the classic Pike Place Market, I’d never heard of the Chihuly Museum.  How could a glass museum be such an attraction?

It ended being my favorite part of our time in Seattle.  Its bright colors and whimsical designs struck me.  Glass is ubiquitous in the home from vases to mason jars, but this museum displays glass in every shape possible.  Born in Washington state in 1941, Dale Chihuly has spent the better part of his life devoted to art, and his work is featured in over 200 museum collections across the globe, according to the museum’s website.

The tour continues into a greenhouse with a glass floral sculpture. This easily was my favorite room as his work and nature enchant you at the same time all with a view of the Space Needle.

This is the optimal spot for an indoor/outdoor activity, and it’s not your run-of-the-mill basic tourist stop.
